NHS Supply Chain

Company Profile

NHS Supply Chain: Food works closely with the NHS to deliver expert food and beverage procurement and account management services, as well as added value services such as Culinary and Dietetic support. This saves trusts both time and money and enables catering teams to focus on what really matters to them. Key categories include fresh, frozen, chilled and ambient food and beverages, as a provision for retail and patients, as well as vending solutions and much more.

Approach to Healthcare

Each trust is a unique customer to us, with individual needs and by understanding the challenges of each trust, we can then provide a tailored solution for them. With a dedicated team Food Account Managers, we take time to really understand their wants and needs. We adapt our offer according to their need. We look at alternative ways for trusts to purchase their food, and explore different ways we can make them savings, making sure they get the right offer from us every time.  Our end to end support from account management, procurement expertise and supplier management to culinary input into the trusts operations, ensures we are putting our customers at the heart of everything we do.

Impact of Products/Services

In addition to our account management and procurement expertise, we offer added value to trusts. Our Operations Team (Culinary and Dietetic experts) offer award winning culinary academies which our customers can attend for free. Where managers have sent team members to these events, staff have come back energised, motivated and have fresh ideas which they can implement into their catering operations.

We also work with trusts on culinary plans often over the course of a year, to improve their catering operations and dietetic solutions.

Our end to end solution ensures continual support for our customers from sourcing, to supplier management, to financial reports, to dietetic support and culinary input.

Innovation

As a company we are continually evolving, ensuring that we support our customers.  We understand that budgets are being squeezed more than ever and at the forefront of our work is working with customers to ensure operational efficiencies driving value for money for customers and finding new ways of identifying savings for them.  We encourage customers to get in touch with their local Food Account Manager to see how we can support them.

Future Direction

We will be continuing our great work to deliver more savings through our savings methodologies, and to continually improve. We drive excellence in procurement, we upskill culinary teams, we encourage cross collaborations across trusts and Integrated Care Systems. We push for improved industry standards and we focus on quality and patient feeding. We continue to work in partnership with NHS England. We have a childrens patient feeding concept, and have an award-winning book More Please! We are just about to launch the sequel to this book Even More Please! which will be shared with trusts who feed children on their wards.
