Approach to Healthcare

Launching our new and updated Phat Hot To Go range and ‘Eat Better’ options, Phat have developed pasties, sausage rolls and savouries that meet all of the key initiatives and standards being championed throughout NHS food offers. British, sustainable and with improved nutritional data, the retail range appeals to both staff and visitors as a great branded option that customers will love.

Impact of Products/Services

Phat can provide both great tasting British focussed products, whilst also supporting hospital caterers with POS, equipment, signage and branding to bring alive a ‘high street’ offer that’s tuned to NHS operations. With items such as branded greaseproof bags that contain ingredients, allergens and Kcal information, Phat provides a coherent and fully supported concept for both a hotplate in a restaurant or a heated display cabinet in a cafe area. Simple to bake-off and hot hold, this is a perfect grab & go offer that’s easy to operate and provides a perfect solution to any busy hospital area. Providing recognisable items with improved quality, British ingredients, sustainably sourced, Phat ticks all the boxes for NHS guidelines.

Innovation

Phat Wrapped Pasties and Sausage Rolls have a unique out of hours / vending solution. Packaged in100% biodegradable, heat-in-pack packaging, these products are delivered frozen and can then be defrosted (10 days chilled shelf life) and placed in chilled cabinets, vending and out of hours areas. Microwavable or heated in rapid cook ovens, they are simply heated in under 2 minutes and served direct in the unopened packaging. A new Self Serve vending unit, with smart fridge and payment system has also been developed, allowing a customer to scan, heat and pay for a hot savoury offer in areas remote from manned counters.

Future Direction

Phat continue to innovate and develop products and solutions for NHS operators. New developments in 2025 include lower salt pastry, 50/50 meat and plant protein blends, lower fat and increased fibre focus. The Phat Eat Better range continues to be developed with new additions throughout the year.
