KWERKY

KWERKY is a UK brand that makes powdered plant milk, that can be used as a milk or cream replacement in recipes. KWERKY helps professional kitchens create inclusive, sustainable meals without compromise in taste. Designed specifically for cooking, baking and foodservice. Made with just five ingredients, it is dairy-free, suitable for vegan diets and free from the top 14 allergens (contains gluten-free oats). KWERKY helps reduce food waste, packaging waste and carbon emissions by at least 50%. We work closely with NHS chefs and caterers to develop practical recipes that improve operational efficiency and menu choice across healthcare settings.
Approach to Healthcare
At KWERKY, we believe every patient, visitor and staff member, deserve access to nutritious, enjoyable food regardless of dietary requirements. We recognise the increasing complexity facing NHS catering teams, from managing allergens and therapeutic diets to reducing waste and meeting cost and sustainability targets. Rather than asking kitchens to overhaul existing menus, we work alongside chefs to adapt familiar, well-loved recipes so they become more inclusive while maintaining taste, texture and nutritional quality. Our collaborative approach, including recipe development with NHS chefs and exemplar sites, ensures solutions are practical, scalable and designed around the realities of busy healthcare kitchens.
Impact of Products/Services on Healthcare
KWERKY helps NHS catering teams simplify the delivery of inclusive meals. A single ambient product can replace dairy and liquid plant milks and cream across sauces, soups, desserts, baking and other recipes, reducing storage pressures, minimising waste and improving operational efficiency. By removing common allergens while maintaining excellent culinary performance, KWERKY enables more patients to enjoy the same meals without requiring separate recipes. Chef Ned Rusev from Guys Hospital says, "Kwerky makes kitchen life easier; you can make one sauce for everybody, our soups and curries can be creamy & dairy-free."
Innovation
Innovation at KWERKY is driven by collaboration with chefs and catering teams. Over the past year, we have partnered with NHS chefs across exemplar sites to develop and test recipes that integrate seamlessly into existing patient menus. These include dishes such as curries, risottos and desserts that demonstrate how inclusive catering can be achieved without compromising quality or increasing complexity. Alongside recipe development, we continue to provide practical training and resources that give catering teams the confidence to adopt more sustainable, allergen-friendly ingredients within everyday food production.
Future Direction
We are committed to supporting healthcare, education and hospitality sectors as it continues to deliver more sustainable, inclusive and patient-centred food services. Our focus is on expanding our library of NHS-tested recipes, strengthening partnerships with healthcare trusts and supporting menu development across a wider range of clinical and community settings. We will continue working with chefs, dietitians and procurement teams to ensure our solutions meet the evolving needs of healthcare catering, while investing in further product innovation that helps the kitchens reduce waste, lower carbon emissions and improve patient dining experiences.
